Thank you everyone!

I just wanted to give another big THANK YOU to all our online friends. Everyone has been so great and giving. We did not ask for any money from anyone. Everybody has just wanted to help in some way.

I am happy to report that we have collected over $1500.00 now, which will go along way to get us back on our feet.

Thank you everyone, this means alot to my family. (We are still in shock about the whole thing, hehe.)

Talk about a sudden change of life. We always look on the bright side. We had already been wanting to move, now we have a kick out the door!

We are excited about what the future has in store for us and we will keep you all posted.

Katrina Images

Here is the tree that almost landed on our car up in Jackson, MS. Which was 200+ mile north from the coast. We still hand high winds and wide spread power outages here.

Here is one shot of the our twisted home. Take note of the refrigerator on its back in the background.

Here is a shot of the main bathroom. Notice the black sludge in the shower, that was the stuff that was on everything below 33 inches in the home.

Here you can see the door off of it's hinges. One way to get an idea of how high the water was, it was about 3 inches below the big lion picture on the wall.

And finally on a lighter note, here is a real picture of our cat Kitzy that we saved. We were VERY relieved to have found her alive. Hopefully soon we can get our own place and get her back with us. We already miss her dearly.

Amazing

It is just amazing. People I have never met, online friends. Some I barely even know, have gave money to help us get started over again. We have a paypal balance closing in on $900 now. I know God has his hands in all of this and I can not thank him and those who want to help enough. Both of our mouths dropped open when we have seen what has been coming in.

I feel so undeserving in comparison, but to feel like that would belittle those who want to help in a weird kind of way. So I thank you and bless you all very much.

(NOTE: The cat pictures in the previous post is NOT our cat, was just a representation picture hehe)

S.S.S.

From the makers of F.F.F., which some of you may know about going around the web. I bring you Super Soaked Sunday. This bit of humor comes with an update.

First off, this was inspired by the fact that WE FOUND OUR CAT! She has a new home with some friends/relatives and is in good hands. This was a huge relief that she survived the flood. (We could not take her with us to where we were staying, and we half way expected to get back soon.)

We spent a few hours at the laundromat. My wife says there is still some smell of flood that will not get out but for the most part we were able to salvage about 40% of our clothes. Alot of that was due to two main boxes of adult clothes that did not get wet. They still have some odor but we will have to wash them as well.

Alot of clothes had stains and we had to toss them.

The big bonus out of this was that we took the time and care to go through two boxes of pictures and salvage them the best we could. We threw away about 50% of the pictures that were too damaged. However we are very thankful for the pictures that we could keep. Alot still have damage / soak issues but you can still see them and know what the picture was about and let it bring back the memories it has.

We put about 10 plastic containers into storage of various other items that we were able to hang on to. Some of it still may not be used but we grabbed it just in case.

I want to thank again all those who express there concern for our family in this time. We have a good bit of friends that want to help out in one way or another, we explain that there are many people who are far worse off but we do not say no if they want to help us out. Giving allows you to be a blessing to other people and if you prevent them from giving then you are blocking the blessings they are earning for themselves. This is something we have learned a while back.

We ask no one at any time for aid of any kind. (Other than asking Tisha's Dad to come help us with his truck. THANK YOU BILL! And of course Tisha's brother for providing us a place to live until we can get back on our feet.)

Thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers.

To end this I show you the kitty... revealed! Oh the Horror!

Salvage Update

We found the kids clothes and our clothes, however flood soaked they may be and are taking them to the laundromat to try and see if a good washing may fix them up. So dont worry about that part. Even if they are not salvageable. We had FEMA drop by while we were going through the home and I am pretty sure they are going to help provide the funds to get us back starting a normal life. (We hope)

The home had 33 inches of water in it. The fridge was on its back sideways. It is amazing what some water can do. Everything stunk and was covered in black slime. The worst thing lost was two boxes of irreplaceable pictures. Everything else was just stuff. We salvaged a good bit of our daughters toys which was great for her. We grabbed alot of the dirty dishes, pans and the such to try and wash to see what can be saved from that.

Well I have to go to the laundromat now. I thank those who have donated already. Trust me it will be put to good use in getting the family back on its feet.
I got an email from a coworker, it is not back up and running yet. Still no word from the president either. Got to run!

God Bless

Help Clothe Our Kids

We have had a few friends and family that were wanting to help us out during this time and I have typically told people that there are plenty of other people that are worse off than us but I have to swallow my pride and face the fact that we could use the assistance. So I am focusing such assistance to help replace all the clothes lost to the hurricane for our two kids. We have shelter, power, and food. We now face the material needs. So for those who wish, you can make paypal donations on the sidebar button to the right or below. I am not begging, we are way better off than alot of other people. Feel free to donate to the Red Cross as well, but as far as this goes, you know exactly what the money is going to. I will be posting pictures of our home that got flooded along with other area pictures when we get them uploaded. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts. -David

Update

Our home was flooded as well as our other car which we had packed with clothes and moved 3 miles north to a hotel parking lot where we thought it would be safe. We thought wrong. We go tommorrow to try and salvage what we can. One of the hardest things is not being able to provide my wife with the answers she needs. No home, no idea about if there is still a job to go back to, which boils down to no security.

All our trust and faith lies in God.

I heard some people on T.V. saying something about how God works in mysterious ways as if God was partially responsible for this hurricane. That can not be farther from the truth. Some folks are just ignorant haha. God is the reason that people are being saved from death in this mess, He is the reason people are helping each other out of compassion and love. He is NOT mother nature on a warpath.

I have no fear, I have no doubt that all will work out wonderfully. We may not know God's plan for us but we trust him to guide us at all times.

I do not call on God during tough times, I call on God at ALL times. I thank Him when things are good, and I thank Him when things are going tough. I do not live in worry our doubt. God provides and we will be just fine.

----end rant!----
